Woman and child seriously injured in accident on Wednesday – first update on the state

Delaware State Police are investigating a crash that left two seriously injured on Wednesday.

At approximately 2:35 p.m., emergency responders from New Castle County Paramedics and Claymont Fire Company responded to a serious motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Naamans Road and Montclair Drive. The incident involved an SUV that rolled over as a result of the collision.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they found two occupants in need of immediate medical attention. A 35-year-old woman was treated by New Castle County paramedics for a head injury and suspected internal injuries. Due to the severity of her condition, she was flown by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to Christiana Hospital in Stanton in critical condition.

A 10-year-old boy, also involved in the crash, sustained injuries and was treated at the scene before being transported to Christiana Hospital by a Claymont Fire Company ambulance in serious condition.
