Dakota Johnson responded to the most embarrassing moment in The Ellen Show history when she called out the host in front of a live audience

It’s been five years since Dakota Johnson and Ellen DeGeneres shared one of the most embarrassing live TV moments in history.

DeGeneres, 66, was once a titan of the television industry and many people tuned in to her talk show because they liked her interview style – because she was like a dog with a bone when it came to getting answers from her guests.

Overall it all seemed very fun.

But behind the scenes, some of her former co-workers later spoke out about the “toxic environment” she allegedly perpetuated on set.

After nearly 20 years on screen, the controversy finally spelled the end of The Ellen DeGeneres Show forever.

The Emmy winner then announced earlier this year that she was leaving Hollywood, warning that “we won’t be seeing her again” – which will likely be good news for Dakota Johnson, as she can trim down her party guest list without feeling guilty .

As you all probably remember, the 34-year-old actress clashed with DeGeneres in front of a studio audience during an appearance on the 2019 US TV series The Ellen Show back in November 2019 regarding an invitation to her 30th birthday party.

Check this out to test your memory:

The couple ended up clashing when DeGeneres asked this Fifty shades of gray Star opened up about how she celebrated her birthday with a huge party in Malibu, attended by the likes of Miley Cyrus and Robert Downey Jr.

The talk show host teased Johnson, hinting that her invitation to the star-studded gathering may have been lost in the mail, saying, “How was the party?” I wasn’t invited.”

However, the Texas-born actress was quick to correct DeGeneres, stating that this was “not the truth” as she intentionally went out of her way to request her presence.

Johnson said, “The last time I was on the show last year you gave me a lot of crap about not being invited, but I didn’t even know you wanted to be invited… I didn’t even know.” You liked me!”

DeGeneres seemed pretty surprised that the tables had turned when she asked Madam Web Stern asked if she was “sure” the invitation was sent.

“Ask everyone,” Johnson replied. “Ask Jonathon, your producer. But I invited you and you didn’t come.”

DeGeneres must have double signed up that night as she then awkwardly said, “I was invited? Why didn’t I go? Oh yes, I had that thing! It was probably in Malibu, that’s too far for me.” .

“I think I remember being invited – thanks!”

The snippet of Johnson’s chat was instantly inducted into the Hall of Fame for one of the most embarrassing exchanges between two famous faces – so it’s no wonder Drew Barrymore brought it up at the first opportunity.

The Charlie’s Angel The legend asked her fellow actress about the relationship she has with her neighbors during an appearance on her show in 2021, and Johnson then revealed that TV star Jimmy Kimmel was one of them.

She joked that while she gets along well with the people she lives close to, they “have a lot of parties and don’t invite her” – sound familiar?

For Barrymore, it was a perfect opportunity to revisit Johnson’s awkward conversation with DeGeneres two years later, so she asked, “Is this real?” Because, you know, people got in trouble for making claims.” [to not be] invited to your parties.

The party starter simply responded with, “Oh my God,” before giving Barrymore a sneaky look.

“That was great, by the way,” Barrymore added. “How great.”

It’s all the drama, Mick! I just love it!
