Former Dartmouth Police Officer Shawn Souza Is Convicted of Child Rape – NBC Boston

A Massachusetts police officer accused of child rape is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday morning.

Shawn Souza, a former Dartmouth police officer, was convicted Wednesday of two counts of aggravated rape of a child, one count of forcible rape of a child and one count of assault on a person 14 years of age or older, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.

He is scheduled to be sentenced at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Fall River Justice Center.

Souza was first accused of the crimes in 2019. The assaults occurred before he became a police officer in 2008 and involved two children. However, further details were not disclosed due to the sensitive nature of the case.
