Toms River man charged with sexually abusing lost teen

OMS RIVER, NJ – Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced that Keith Hahn, 46, of Toms River, was charged Tuesday with several serious felonies. These charges include aggravated sexual assault, sexual battery, aggravated criminal sexual contact, kidnapping, enticement and endangering the welfare of a child. The charges are related to an incident that reportedly occurred on September 29 in Toms River.

A 14-year-old female contacted the Manchester Township Police Department on September 29 to report an incident of sexual assault by an unknown male.

An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit along with Toms River Township police revealed the teen was walking along Route 70 in Manchester Township when she became lost.

A man in a white Jeep Grand Cherokee offered to help her, which she accepted and asked for a ride to a shelter in Toms River.

Instead, she was driven to another location in Toms River where the attack occurred. She later escaped the vehicle at a Walmart and went home, at which point police were notified.

  • Traffic stop in South Stafford leads to drunk driving arrest

    Stafford, VA – An incident involving a suspected drunk driver was reported in South Stafford when officers responded to a call about a driver who was under the influence of alcohol at approximately 10:11 p.m. on Monday. The situation occurred at a Wawa supermarket at 275 Butler Road. The caller informed authorities of a Chevy Cruze in which the driver was arguing with a passenger over a bottle of alcohol and was reportedly drinking alcohol at the same time as a soft drink driver.

    Deputy First Sergeant N. Zotos and Deputy SA Fulford were dispatched to manage the situation. Before officers could arrive, the driver initially left the scene of the accident, but soon returned so police could initiate a traffic stop in the Wawa parking lot.

    During the stop, the 26-year-old driver exhibited clear signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and a strong odor of alcohol. A search of the vehicle uncovered two nearly empty bottles of Captain Morgan Rum, one of which was located under the driver’s seat. However, Captain Jack Sparrow was not in the vehicle.

    The driver is charged with, among other things, driving under the influence of alcohol, drunk driving, refusing to cooperate and improperly displaying the license plate.

  • Montgomery County police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident

    GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Montgomery County police are investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that killed a 53-year-old man Monday evening, officials confirmed Wednesday.

    The victim, identified as Dominique Mwepu, was struck by a blue Honda Prelude at the intersection of Frederick Road and High Point Drive on September 30 at around 7:55 p.m. According to a police statement, Mwepu suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

    5th District officers and firefighters responded to the incident shortly after it was reported. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with investigators.

    The Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is leading the investigation and no further details about the cause of the crash have been released.
