Motorcyclist dies after crashing into truck in Woodlands

SINGAPORE – A 24-year-old motorcyclist died after an accident with a truck in Woodlands on the morning of October 2.

Police and the Singapore Civil Defense Force said they were alerted to the accident at the intersection of Admiralty Road and Woodlands Center Road at around 8am.

Photos of the aftermath of the accident published on Facebook show an overturned motorcycle next to a heavy vehicle.

You can see the victim lying on the street with someone kneeling next to him.

The male driver was unconscious when he was taken to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where he later died.

The police investigation is ongoing.

Traffic accidents killed 136 people in 2023, a 25.9 percent increase from the 108 deaths from the same cause in 2022.

Motorcyclists are among the most vulnerable groups of road users.

In 2023, motorcyclists or pillion riders were involved in more than half of all traffic accidents and accounted for half of traffic accident deaths.
