The former This Morning presenter, 62, flew to Madagascar to fend for himself on an island for 10 days celebrated his TV comeback after his resignation ITV show last May after an “ill-advised” affair with a younger colleague.

And in the show’s third and final episode, which aired on Wednesday, Phillip suffered disaster when he accidentally set his tent and camp on fire, destroying his entire sleeping area.

Phillip was convinced he had seen paw prints in the sand before hearing what he described as a “big cat” that night. He built a campfire to ward off the beast, but disaster struck when a fire destroyed his tent.

The episode caused further chaos when Phillip decided to strip naked and go skinny dipping in the middle of the night to mark the end of his ten-day breakup.

“I thought I heard some kind of cat-like noise, like the sound of a cat fighting, only bigger,” Phillip described the animal he heard.

He then decided to use his emergency radio to contact survivalist Roger, who said, “Maybe you should just try to extend your fire – so a star fire or a long fire – and just keep the fire going a little longer than you have it .” did.

“Other recommendations include making sure you always have your primary cutting tool and radio with you.”

The presenter could be seen muttering “What the f***” as Roger gave him the advice.

“While I was sleeping, a disaster occurred,” Phillip said in voiceover. “My starfire got out of control and set my camp on fire.”

Speaking to the camera after the fire, Phillip added: “Thank God I heard it.”

Viewers were later shocked when the TV personality decided to strip off and end his experience with a nude swim.
