Video: Two dead, one injured in an accident on the Gelderland motorway

Two people were killed in an accident on the A50 motorway near Valburg in Gelderland early on Thursday morning. A third person was seriously injured, the Gelderland police reported on X.

Police suspect that the occupants of the car were involved in a crime and had an accident while fleeing the scene, NOS reported.

The accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on the A50 motorway at the Valburg motorway junction on the A15 towards Bemmel. Records show police responded to the scene at 3:28 a.m., followed shortly thereafter by the fire department and several ambulances.

The police closed the slip road from the A50 to the A15 for investigations. According to ANWB it was still closed at 8:30 a.m.

Photojournalists on the scene reported to Omroep Gelderland that the car flew out of a curve at high speed, crashed through the guardrail and landed between the adjacent trees.

First responders attempted to revive two victims but were unsuccessful. They died at the scene. The third victim was taken to a hospital in unknown condition.
