Tragic hospital fire amid typhoon chaos in Taiwan

A devastating fire broke out at a hospital in southern Taiwan early Thursday morning, killing at least eight people. The tragedy occurred in Piingtung County, a region already struggling with the severe impact of Typhoon Krathon.

The powerful typhoon, which made landfall in the afternoon, unleashed torrential rain and strong winds, throwing large parts of the island into chaos. The investigation continues as authorities try to uncover the origin of the smoke that was fatal to the victims.

In response to the emergency, soldiers from a nearby military base were deployed to assist firefighters and medical personnel and ensure the safe evacuation of patients, who were then taken to nearby emergency shelters.
