Nuclear annihilation is threatened by the revival of the McCarthy-era Cold War in the 20th century and by the Red Scare

The world may have dodged an immediate bullet when U.S. intelligence agencies warned this week that if we gave in to Ukraine’s pleas for long-range missiles that could hit targets deep inside, we would be pushing the Russian bear beyond its patience without influencing it at all could attack the interior of Russia. The outcome of the war in favor of Ukraine.

Following Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent announcement of lowering the threshold for Russia’s use of nuclear weapons, there was a sense of waiting with bated breath as the US and its NATO allies announced their plans to reiterate a “red line” to ignore ”articulated by US President Biden not to provide Ukraine with weapons that could be fired deep inside Russia.

Britain is playing its usual provocative role by sending clear messages that it would welcome US agreement to allow Ukraine to use its Storm Shadow long-range missiles. We’ve just taken a short breather in light of the US Secret Service’s recently released public assessment.

Despite Russian President Vladimir Putin’s repeated calls for the U.S. to honor U.S. promises to Gorbachev and Yeltsin that the U.S. would not expand NATO east of a unified Germany, as the Wall fell and Gorbachev ended the Warsaw Pact and the Soviet occupation of Eastern Europe After a shot, the USA, driven by visions of empire, steadily expanded NATO eastwards.

It began with Clinton’s annexation of Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic in 1999, followed by Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia in 2004, and Albania, Croatia, Montenegro and North Macedonia between 2009 and 2017. Suddenly Putin was so dismayed by this expansion that he asked the Clinton administration if Russia could join NATO, but was refused membership.

Putin made it very clear to the US and NATO that Russia, which shares a long border with Ukraine, would not tolerate Ukraine joining NATO. After the US backed a coup in 2014 that replaced Ukraine’s pro-Russian President Viktor Yanukovych with Petro Poroshenko, who immediately announced that only the Ukrainian language would be recognized in Ukraine, civil war broke out in the eastern part of Ukraine Country where the majority of people were Russian and spoke Russian. More than 14,000 people were killed in this war before Russia invaded Ukraine.

Putin presented a draft treaty to the United States in 2021 that proposed that Ukraine remain neutral and that the Donbass region, which is in civil war, would remain as a federation within Ukraine and have the right to speak Russian. The US completely ignored the suggestion and Putin invaded Ukraine in February 2022.

Six months after the invasion, Putin negotiated a ceasefire with Yeltsin, but Boris Johnson, the British Prime Minister, came to Ukraine and told Zelensky not to do the deal! And the slaughter continues, with more than 20,000 civilians and 100,000 soldiers killed.

Thanks to the brief respite we’ve just received from the threat of nuclear annihilation, thanks to sensible US intelligence agencies that have taken Putin’s recent warnings to be cautious about a hasty and reckless expansion of military aid to Ukraine, it’s on the time to change the conversation with bold new proposals.

Proposals that are guaranteed to give us a respite from the growing terror. Proposals that create a shift in planetary consciousness and enable us to respond together to the impending catastrophic climate disaster! Mother Earth is growing impatient with humanity’s folly.

Here are a series of steps that are guaranteed to bring us peace on Earth if the US is willing to mobilize against the MICIMATT (Military Industrial, Congressional Intelligence, Media, Academic, Think Tank Complex) and work for peace!

  • Taking up repeated Russian and Chinese proposals in the United Nations and in frequent speeches for a treaty banning weapons in outer space
  • Taking up repeated Russian and Chinese proposals in the United Nations to negotiate a treaty banning cyberwar
  • Reinstate the 1972 Missile Defense Treaty with Russia and remove U.S. missiles deployed by Obama and Trump from Poland and Romania
  • Remove U.S. nuclear weapons stationed in five NATO countries: Turkey, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Belgium in exchange for Russia withdrawing its recently stationed weapons in Belarus
  • Take all nuclear weapons off alert and separate warheads from their delivery systems, as China does – the wisdom of the East
  • Destroy NATO and withdraw it from the Russian border immediately

The ball, as they say, is in the court of the US. Or as Pogo Possum, a character from Walt Kelly’s 1950s comic strip said, “We have met the enemy and he is us!”

There is no doubt that Russia and China would be willing partners in these new initiatives. They have been proposing it to the United States for more than ten years!!
