Nongprue mayor announces strict safety measures after tragic school bus fire

Nongprue Mayor Winai Inpitak announces strict security measures as children take part in a fire drill at the local school

PATTAYA, Thailand – Nongprue Mayor Winai Inpitak expressed deep sadness over the tragic bus fire that killed 23 students and teachers from Uthai Thani during a school trip to Bangkok. He explained that the incident had a profound impact on the community and that measures were now being coordinated to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

The mayor emphasized the importance of school trips, noting that many students rely on such trips for unique educational experiences since not all families have the means to travel. He stressed the need for increased vigilance over the safety of vehicles used for school trips and called for thorough inspection of engines, fuel systems and tires before trips.

Mayor Winai emphasized that valuable lessons can be learned from this tragedy and announced the immediate implementation of new safety guidelines for schools in the municipality. These policies require rigorous vehicle inspections and ensure driving distances are appropriate for the student’s age group.

The mayor also promoted local school trips to Chonburi Province, which offers numerous educational attractions such as Khao Kheow Open Zoo, Dinosaur Park, Nong Nooch Tropical Garden and dolphin shows. Finally, he expressed Nongprue Municipal Council’s heartfelt condolences to the families and individuals affected by this devastating event.
