Raleigh, North Carolina – A tragic fire kills two young children in an apartment

Raleigh, NC (October 2, 2024) – Two small children were killed in a devastating kitchen fire in an apartment early Sunday morning. The incident occurred in the 1800 block of Cantwell Court and prompted a rapid response from the Raleigh Fire Department just after 6 a.m

Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a small fire that had broken out in the kitchen. Fortunately, the flames were quickly extinguished; However, the consequences were tragic. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported a 1-year-old and a 4-year-old child to a local hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. Unfortunately, both children later succumbed to their injuries.

The children’s mother was the only other resident of the apartment at the time of the fire. Luckily, she reported no injuries.
