70-year-old victim dies after suspected bicycle accident, police said

LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) – A bicyclist has died after a possible crash on the Jaime Zapata Highway Wednesday afternoon.

Laredo police responded to a call in the 2500 block of the highway around 2 p.m. Preliminary reports indicate that a man in his 70s was struck while riding a bicycle. According to authorities, the man was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.

The man’s exact cause of death has not been confirmed and officials are still working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The investigation is ongoing.
