FEMA is offering resources to those affected by Helene in Southwest Virginia

SOUTHWEST, Va. – FEMA is offering assistance if you live in Giles, Grayson, Tazewell, Washington and Wythe or Galax counties and were affected by Helene.

Those affected can now apply for support from FEMA. FEMA will go door-to-door within 24 hours letting survivors know they are here and help is available.

FEMA may be able to help you fund temporary housing, home repairs, rental assistance, and other needs.

“Survivors can call us at 1-800-621-3362 and speak to someone, they can contact Disaster Assistance .gov, they can download the FEMA app and soon they will be able to stop by one of our emergency responders “When you visit the centers “Visit the ones we’re setting up, talk to someone in person – we’ll keep you updated on when and where they’re open,” said FEMA’s Trey Paul.

FEMA assistance is available to homeowners and renters without insurance.
