“I liked what Iran was doing, but I’ve been waiting for this since the beginning of the war. Not now,” says Bell, a 32-year-old Lebanese lawyer.

I met her at a school that houses hundreds of people who have fled southern Lebanon and Dahieh, a suburb in southern Beirut.

Bell had to leave her home in Haret Hreik in Dahieh – an area that has been heavily bombed in recent days.

“I think it’s too late. We still can’t believe we lost Seyyed Hasan,” she says.

Bell is talking about Hasan Nasrallah, the Hezbollah leader who was killed in an Israeli airstrike last Friday.

She tells me she still feels “happy.”

And her uncle Mohammad says he is “proud of Iran.”

Three people look at their cell phones

In the evenings at school, everyone follows the news on their cell phones about the developments after the Iranian attack.

Clearly there are mixed feelings here about Iran’s actions.

“I’m happy when I see the actual results. If it’s like their attack in April, it won’t mean anything to us.

“A few trenches in some military bases without the killing of Israeli commanders or top leaders will be meaningless,” says Abu Ahmad.

He also fled Dahieh, saying he and his brother’s house were badly damaged in airstrikes.
