Concordia deputies arrest two adults after finding a naked, dirty and emaciated child

VIDALIA, La. (KNOE) – Two adults in Vidalia were arrested on child abandonment charges after the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office said they found a child left home alone.

CPSO said they received multiple 911 calls from a home in Lynn Havens. Dr. Deputies said when they got there they found a child who had an intellectual disability and was non-verbal.

Officials also said the child was naked, dirty and emaciated.

Investigators from the CPSO Special Victims Unit were called to the scene. The child’s guardians, Laurie Stewert and Tony Williams, arrived at the home shortly before detectives arrived.

According to investigators, Stewert and Williams violated the rules during questioning and were taken into custody.

Stewert, 32, was arrested once for child abandonment and resisting an officer.

Williams, 27, was also arrested on charges of child abandonment and resisting an officer.

CPSO said additional charges are expected against the suspects.

Investigators said they contacted DCFS and took the child into state custody.
