The Car Pro Show wins other major awards

We are always very proud when we win awards for our work at the Car Pro Show. It’s humbling and makes all the hard work seem worthwhile. Every year the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA), of which Amy Plemons and I are members, presents awards for thise Excellence in craft competition. Automotive journalists submit their work and independent, non-TAWA jurors select first, second and third place in each of the six categories. The categories are:

  • Write
  • Radio & Podcasts
  • video
  • photography
  • Social media
  • TAWA event reporting

The deadline for entries was July 15thTh2024, and the winners were announced at the Texas Truck Rodeo held last Thursday and Friday. TAWA describes the competition as: We recognize the outstanding work of our members with an annual competition designed to recognize TAWA members’ outstanding achievements in automotive journalism.

This year, when all the entries came in, I am proud to say that the Car Pro Show accepted first place for the radio/podcast category. If I counted correctly, that’s the 5thTh The show took first place in this category alongside numerous second placesnd and 3approx Place wins over the years. I have to thank my trusty buddy Kevin McCarthy, who was with me the entire time and part of every interview entry.

In the judge’s comments about why Car Pro Show was chosen for first place, he or she said:

“Jerry continues to provide knowledge and insight and continues to inspire us again this year.”

The entry that won the Radio category was titled: Why Americans DON’T buy electric vehicles. This was an interview I conducted with our Car Pro Show partner News/Radio 1080 KRLD in Dallas-Fort Worth. You can listen to the audio here →

We are proud to be members of the Texas Auto Writers Association, a distinguished group of automotive journalists who are well respected by automakers and the public at large. To be honest, it was a surprise to receive three awards, but we are proud to have earned and received every single one of them. We will continue to try to bring you the best radio shows, car reviews, newsletters and automotive news possible. We know this wouldn’t be possible without you, the audience and followers. We therefore humbly accept these awards on your behalf and thank each of you from the bottom of our hearts.

Count me in!
