Second gentleman charged with assault

CV NEWSFEED // The DailyMail On Tuesday, an exclusive report released that Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, the husband of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, was accused of physically assaulting both his ex-girlfriend and his ex-lover.

The news broke shortly after former Biden-Harris administration spokeswoman Jen Psaki praised Emhoff for representing a new kind of masculinity.

According to the DailyMail:

Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, 59, allegedly punched the woman in the face so hard that she turned around as she waited in line at the valet parking late at night after a Cannes Film Festival event in France in May 2012 .

One of her friends told DailyMail.com that the woman called him in her taxi immediately after the incident, sobbing and describing the alleged assault.

DailyMail.com is not identifying the woman, who is a successful New York lawyer, by name but instead refers to her by the pseudonym “Jane.”

A second friend said Jane, who had been dating Emhoff for three months, also told her about the alleged violence at the time.

The explosive article cited sources close to Emhoff’s ex-girlfriend who not only alleged a physical altercation between Emhoff and his ex-girlfriend, but also additional details about Emhoff’s relationship with former lover Najen Naylor:

All three of Jane’s friends said she also told them about a disturbing alleged incident during her relationship with the Second Gentleman, in which Emhoff casually admitted to impregnating Naylor.

Emhoff told Jane that the nanny had accused him of causing her to miscarry, the friends claimed. According to the friends, Emhoff did not say how he was allegedly responsible for the miscarriage and told Jane that the nanny’s claims were false.

But the Second Gentleman is said to have confessed to Jane that he paid Naylor a severance package of around $80,000 and had the nanny sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).

The article sharply contradicts the Harris campaign’s portrayal of Emhoff as a champion of women and a “supportive wife” of the Democratic presidential candidate.

“He’s portraying himself as something he’s absolutely not,” a source said:

I think people should know who their leaders really are. [Jane] was always democratic. I have always voted democratically. If anything, I’d like to tell a story from the other side. But that’s the truth.

“He’s a really bad guy,” another source explained. “Portraying him as a supporter of women is just disgusting.”

Jen Psaki, now an anchor on MSNBC, said in a recent interview that Emhoff “changed the perception of masculinity.”

“I’m not sure you planned this, but you’re an incredibly supportive spouse,” Psaki also said during her interview with Emhoff. “Was this a progression for you and do you think this is part of the role you could play as First Gentleman?”

“It’s funny, I started thinking about it a lot,” Emhoff told Psaki. “I’ve always been like that, my father was like that too.”
