Aston Villa suffer major double injury scare ahead of game against Manchester United

Aston Villa suffered a major injury blow ahead of Sunday afternoon’s game against Manchester United after Jacob Ramsey and Amadou Onana limped off the pitch in each half of Wednesday night’s Champions League showdown against Bayern Munich.

United travel to Villa Park in their final game before the international break in October and will be looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Tottenham in their last game.

Erik ten Hag’s team have had a mixed start, picking up just seven points from their first six games in the top flight, but this weekend’s trip to the Midlands gives them the perfect opportunity to end this block of fixtures on a positive note – despite their recent defeat run of form.

And opponents Villa face injury concerns ahead of the game after Ramsey was substituted in the first half against Bundesliga giants Bayern on Wednesday night. The 23-year-old, who has even been linked with a move to United in the past, was replaced by Leon Bailey in the 27th minute.

It looked like Ramsey had hurt his groin while hobbling off the field. The former England U21 international has had terrible luck with injuries in recent years. Last season, Ramsey missed a whopping 36 games due to various issues, including a broken metatarsal and a long-standing toe problem.

At the restart, Onana was substituted, which made the injury concerns even worse. It seemed as if the ex-Everton player was suffering from his hamstring problem.

Speaking about Ramsey’s future in January, Emery said: “Jacob Ramsey is a very important player. He grew up here in the academy. His progress is clear and keeps getting better. I want to keep him here with us.”

“He is a potentially big player at Aston Villa and England. I 100 percent want to keep him here.”
