Shakhtar Donetsk 0-3 Atalanta: Ademola Lookman stars as the Italians claim a comfortable win

Ademola Lookman starred as Atalanta secured a comfortable Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk at the Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen.

The Italians have now taken four points from their two Champions League games this season after starting their campaign with a goalless draw against Arsenal.

And that result seemed apparent from the moment former Charlton and Everton striker Lookman opened the scoring in the 21st minute with a shot from the left that was fired into the goal by Albania captain Berat Djimsiti.

Having already hit Shakhtar’s crossbar, Lookman doubled Atalanta’s lead a minute before half-time by firing a shot into the bottom corner from Sead Kolasinac’s pass.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side put the contest beyond doubt three minutes after the restart when Raoul Bellanova took advantage of a hesitant defense and nodded Davide Zappacosta’s cross at the back post.

Shakhtar, who play their home games at Schalke’s stadium due to the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, struggled to trouble the visitors’ defense and took one point from two games.
