Tragic double suicide: Elderly woman and her granddaughter found in Erode Well | Coimbatore News

Erode: A older woman and her granddaughter died by suicide In Vellode here on Monday. Their bodies were recovered from a well on Tuesday morning.
The deceased are M. Tamilarasi (65) from Koundachipalayam and her granddaughter Vikasini (3).
A police officer from Vellode railway station said Tamilarasi’s son Manivel, 32, a teacher at a government-aided school, started looking for them after he returned home from work. He later discovered their bodies floating in the well and alerted the police.
However, fire and rescue personnel from Gobichettipalayam could not recover the bodies due to poor visibility. They resumed their efforts on Tuesday morning and managed to recover the bodies after two hours. The bodies were sent to the government hospital in Gobichettipalayam for post-mortem.
Preliminary investigations revealed that they were last seen at their house on Monday around 1 p.m. The motive behind the suicide is yet to be clarified.
Vellode police have registered a case and are investigating.
