‘Indeed Love Is’ Completely Unrecognizable in New Twisty Mystery Drama TV & Radio | Showbiz and television

German actress Heike Makatsch, best known for her role in the classic Christmas film Love Actually, looks completely unrecognizable more than 20 years after the film’s release.

In the 2003 romantic Christmas comedy, Heike plays Mia, a flirtatious secretary who sparks an affair with Harry (played by Alan Rickman), the wife of Karen (Emma Thompson).

She is known to fans of the film for her striking looks and her signature black bob. In Apple TV+’s first German-language TV series, “Where’s Wanda?”, the star has a completely different look.

In the brand new comedic mystery series, Heike plays the role of mother-of-two Carlotta Klatt, who carries out an increasingly unhinged search for her and her husband Dedo’s (Axel Stein) missing daughter Wanda (Lea Drinda).

Now she embodies a determined mother with long blonde hair and a casual but stylish wardrobe. Her new role is a world away from the iconic character that romantic comedy fans continue to obsess over.

She told the Express exclusively: “Oh yes, it still shows every year around Christmas.

“Even though I only had a relatively small role and we didn’t have that many days of filming, it was of course great that I got to work with Richard Curtis and so many great people from English cinema and the English stage.”

Despite starring some of the biggest names in British show business, Heike was completely unaware of the phenomenon that Love Actually would eventually become.

“I didn’t really know at the time that it would be such an iconic film that I could contribute to,” she added.

“I’m really happy, even today, when people talk to me about it and tell me that it’s their favorite film and that everyone knows the film. Of course it’s great to have been there.”

In their new series, Where’s Wanda?, Carlotta and Dedo embark on an extensive surveillance mission as they desperately try to retrieve their missing daughter.

The pair begin bugging their neighbors’ houses, convinced they are hiding secrets that could lead to Wanda’s whereabouts.

Heike revealed that thanks to a peculiarity in the neighborhood, she already knows firsthand what her neighbors are up to.

“In my case, the living situation is rather transparent because I live in a bungalow and we have a glass front and then a garden in front,” she explains.

“And then there is a big building in front of me, but here too the back part of the building is made of glass.

“So you look in the back yard, I look in the back yard, we all see each other all the time. I can always tell who’s coming home, if they’re arguing, if someone’s leaving, if maybe someone forgot to wear something when they go to breakfast. This way I can see everything!

“But we still got along very well, our neighbors and I. And it feels somehow safe knowing that we’re constantly watching each other. We can live with this kind of surveillance.”

The bold and often hilarious new series asks what parents are capable of doing to protect their children, and is guaranteed to spark thoughtful debates and lots of laughs.

Where is Wanda? continues every Wednesday on Apple TV+.
