Eight dead in boat accident in Afghanistan

Eight people, including children and women, were killed in a boat accident in eastern Afghanistan, local media reported on Wednesday.

The incident occurred in Kuz Kunar district of Nangarhar province.

According to local authorities, a boat carrying 14 people capsized due to strong winds.

Residents of Kuz Kunar district have long faced challenges due to a damaged bridge in the area that has contributed to such accidents.

This is the second boat accident in Nangarhar province in recent months.

In July, at least eight people were killed in a similar incident in Mohmandara district.

Decades of conflict have left Afghanistan lacking basic infrastructure in many areas.
