A 17-year-old girl was found dead and strangled in a hotel room in Osaka

A 17-year-old girl found dead in a hotel room in Osaka city’s Dotonbori district on Saturday was strangled, according to autopsy results announced by the Osaka Prefectural Police.

According to police, pressure marks were found on the girl’s neck and petechial bleeding was visible on her face, consistent with strangulation. During the autopsy, no traces of drugs or alcohol were found on the deceased.

Police are investigating the case as a homicide and are looking for a man who was seen entering the hotel with the victim.

The girl’s body was discovered wrapped in bedding on the bed around 11pm on Saturday. Investigators determined that she entered the hotel with the man around 5:25 p.m. She is believed to have died around 6:30 p.m

Security footage suggests the man fled through the room’s window about 10 minutes later.

The suspect is said to have been wearing a dark T-shirt, long trousers and a hat and was carrying a backpack.
