Eastlake man is charged with assault after hitting another man with his car at Hillcrest Hospital

MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio – A 22-year-old Eastlake man has been charged with two counts of assault and battery after he struck another man with his car in the parking lot of Hillcrest Hospital around 2:15 a.m. on Sept. 20.

He had been at the hospital with his girlfriend, who was taking her child for treatment.

The child’s 28-year-old father was hit by the vehicle. He had texted the child’s mother and come to the hospital to see the child.

When he and his girlfriend arrived, he said the suspect was in the parking lot and hit them both with an aluminum baseball bat. He said he was walking away after a brief argument when the suspect hit him from behind with his car. He was taken to the emergency room for treatment and later requested an order of protection.

A witness reported seeing the victim on the hood of the car and then rolling off it.

An officer was in the area when the report came in and was able to stop the suspect’s car as it entered Interstate-271.
