Grand Strand organizations are banding together to host a car show as a fundraiser for Helene victims

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – Several Grand Strand organizations came together to put on a car show on Tuesday to support Helene’s relief efforts.

Organizers of the fair encouraged people to come by, look at cars and bring donations for those affected by Helene.

“You know, we’re big car enthusiasts and we just want to help support the people of North Carolina,” said Sal Negron, owner of Island Castaway Charters.

Michael Stark is president of 8fo3 Mopars, a car club that puts on shows to raise money for various organizations.

“Everything we do we give back to the community,” Stark said.

Stark said the club wasn’t even a year old, but he had members like Michael Delia showing him the ropes.

“I’ve been involved in the car community since 1995, I actually ran a car club up in New York,” said Delia, a member of 8fo3 Mopars. “Now that I’ve moved here, I want to bring my expertise and experience in putting on shows and giving back to the community down here.”

Stark and Delia then teamed up with Negron, who also said his business was just getting started.

“We’re new, but I’m all about giving back to the community,” Negron said.

Organizers said their first collaboration was a success, but they hope it won’t be the last.

“It’s hard to get clubs to work together and something like this is a great thing,” Stark said. “I’m sorry to say it had to be a tragedy to start, but let’s not forget it. I mean, we do this for a good reason, so let’s keep doing it because there are always people out there that need help.”

If you missed Tuesday’s car show, car enthusiasts have the opportunity to drop off donations at Player 1Up in Murrells Inlet Thursday through Sunday.

Island Castaway Charters will also donate 100% of the proceeds from their clothing to Helene victims.
