Lexington rideshare driver accused of sexually assaulting passenger

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – Lexington police have arrested a rideshare driver accused of sexually assaulting a passenger.

Lyft driver Abdulgayum Wardak allegedly assaulted the victim in the early morning hours of September 22nd.

Officers responded to the incident near the corner of Richmond Road and Lincoln Avenue.

According to police, the victim said Wardak stopped before she reached her destination and demanded $100 or sex. When she refused, he reportedly climbed into the back seat and attacked her.

Wardak fled the scene but was later identified through rideshare records.

He is charged with first-degree sexual abuse and fourth-degree assault.
