Woman with criminal record is accused of stealing from a hotel customer

JONESBORO, Ark. – A guest who checked into a Jonesboro hotel using his credit card discovered that over $1,400 was lost after he reportedly used his card fraudulently. Now a female suspect has to face charges.

Jonesboro Police Department officers were dispatched to a Jonesboro hotel on August 5, 2024 to receive the report. Police learned that an employee was accused of stealing a customer’s credit card information, which was later used in Paragould.

The customer called the hotel and claimed that the person who checked him in on July 30 had stolen his credit card information. It was the only time he used the card that day, he said. Later that day, the card was used at a business in Paragould for $1,417.87.

When police contacted the Paragould business, they learned that a woman had called them to pay a male customer’s account. Police followed up on the man and said Vicky Wheeler wanted to do something nice for him and she was willing to pay off his account at the Paragould store.

The hotel guest provided police with a description of the employee to whom he gave his card. The description was then presented to the hotel manager, who identified the suspect as Vicky Wheeler.

Wheeler was arrested on September 28th. Her charges include a Class D felony count of credit/debit card theft and a probation violation. On Sept. 30, Judge Tommy Fowler set her bail at $1,500 cash only, citing an extensive history of financial crimes on Wheeler’s record. Jail records also showed that Wheeler had violated the terms of his probation.

Court records show Wheeler’s pseudonym as Vickey Louise Green. Between both names, there are several previous accusations against her. On September 4, 2024, she pleaded guilty to forgery and possession of fentanyl in St. Francis County and was sentenced to eight years probation.

Online records show Wheeler pleaded guilty to residential burglary in Pulaski District Court on November 29, 2021.

On March 22, 2021, she was found guilty in Phillips County of fraudulent use of a credit or debit card in excess of $1,000 but less than $5,000.

She also pleaded guilty to forgery in Cross County on March 16, 2021.

Court records show numerous other cases from various counties in Arkansas.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
