Walnuts Hills stabbing investigation leads to arrest

A man has been charged in connection with a fatal knife attack in Walnut Hills, according to Cincinnati police.

Eugene Johnson, 61, was arrested Tuesday on a murder warrant, police said in a news release.

Officers responded to the 2900 block of Gilbert Avenue on the afternoon of August 17 for a reported stabbing.

When first responders arrived at the scene, they found 60-year-old William Hawkins injured and took him to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment, according to police.

Police said Hawkins died from his injuries three days later.

Johnson was booked into the Hamilton County Justice Center Tuesday afternoon, jail records show. The case related to the murder investigation was not posted on the Hamilton County Clerk of Court website Tuesday afternoon.
