Single vehicle accident at Cyr Plantation

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine (WAGM) – At approximately 8:34 a.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a single motor vehicle accident in Cyr Plantation.

Upon arrival on scene, sheriff’s officers learned that Michael Paine, 45, of Van Buren, was driving a 2003 Toyota Tundra when a moose entered the roadway.

Paine then hit the moose, which hid his vehicle and had to be towed from the scene.

Paine was transported by ambulance to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Van Buren Fire and EMS.
