The Toledo Library teaches children civics with the book “Presidential Election.”

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) – The Toledo Lucas County Public Library is once again asking children and their adults to help choose the library’s next book president in the annual storybook character presidential election.

This mock election is an engaging way to teach children the importance of voting and give them the opportunity to vote for their civic duty.

Incumbent President Pete the Cat from the children’s book series of the same name won the competition in 2023 and is running for re-election against his book colleagues Ms. Frizzle from the Magic School Bus and Olivia the Pig.

Customers can drop off their ballots at any Toledo Library location from Tuesday, October 8th through Tuesday, November 5th.

Book President coloring pages, bookmarks and stickers are available at all library locations while supplies last.

Once votes are counted, the winner will be announced on Wednesday, November 6th on the Toledo Library’s social media channels.

Toledo Library patrons can get to know the candidates by reading their platforms and requesting their picture books from the library.
