A liberal man has died in a fatal crash early Sunday morning in Beaver County, Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the crash occurred just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday on U.S. Highway 83 at Hollow E0210 Road, about 11 miles south of Turpin, Oklahoma, when a 2013 Hyundai Elantra and a black 2016 Kia Optima were involved left on the road from an earlier collision. OHP said a third vehicle, a 2020 3500, ignored the observation and struck both the Elantra and Optima.

The driver of the Hyundai, 41-year-old Serjio Rutiaga of Liberal, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Oklahoma Medical Examiner due to his injuries sustained.

The driver of the Kia, Levi EF Macias, 22, of Liberal, was not injured, nor was the driver of the 3500, 52-year-old Christopher Hickman of Hemphill, Texas.

OHP said Rutiaga was ejected from the vehicle. He and Macias were not wearing seatbelts at the time, but Hickman was.

Rutiaga’s condition at the time of the accident and the cause of the accident are under investigation.
