Selena Gomez shared the advice she would give herself when starting out in the entertainment industry

Selena Gomez went back in time to give her younger self a pep talk about taking it easy. The 32-year-old mental health advocate, singer, actress and businesswoman is currently promoting her new film. Emilia Perez. When talking to E! News At the New York Film Festival on September 30, Gomez shared the advice she would give herself when starting out in the entertainment industry.

“I would tell her to just calm down, everything will be okay on the other side,” Gomez told the outlet. “It’s a little overwhelming being in this industry for so long,” she said, referring to her first TV job on Barney & Friends when she was 10.

The Heart Wants What It Wants singer and star of Just murders in the building said that despite the challenges, she was happy with the path she was taking. “I’m very grateful that I’m in a much more stable place,” she assured.

Gomez celebrates the premiere of Emilia Pereza musical crime comedy that won the Best Actress category at the Cannes Film Festival in May. “I just don’t know if it’s real. I’m even shaking in my voice,” Gomez told E! News as we deal with Oscar nomination chatter. “I am grateful. I think this film hits on all cylinders. He’s a lot of fun. It is very passionate and is about four women and their journey. And just being in that category was a blessing, an honor.”

Selena Gomez is also taking a break from music to focus on her acting career. “If you will, I’m not sure when I’ll be back in the lab. But I enjoy the acting side of it,” she said.
