Driver with police ID killed in crash on I-95 in Virginia

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. – Police identified a driver killed in a crash on Interstate 95 South near Parham Road.

Robert George Roberts, 68, of Chandler, Arizona, died in the accident, which was reported around 3 a.m. Monday.

“A black 2020 Cadillac XT6 SUV was traveling southbound on I-95 and left the roadway to the right, struck the ditch, flew through the air and struck trees on the driver’s side,” a spokesman said Virginia State Police. “The vehicle then rolled over and came to a stop upright. The driver was extricated by firefighters and EMS and transported to VCU Medical Center, where he died as a result of his injuries. The Cadillac was the only vehicle involved and there were no others.” Speed ​​and alcohol consumption are contributing factors to this accident.

Police said the crash remains under investigation.
