Fired “GMA” weatherman Rob Marciano is joining CBS News

Former Good morning America Weathercaster Rob Marciano will return to television five months after being fired by ABC News following a tantrum against one GMA Producer.

According to Oliver Darcy’s status newsletter, CBS News has tapped Marciano to join its growing weather network. Darcy reports that former ABC News executive Wendy Fisher oversees CBS News’ weather operations and that Fisher and Marciano have a good relationship.

Marciano was kicked off ABC News back in April after complaining about his behavior multiple times over the years, to the point where he was temporarily banned from television GMA Sentence. Sources told later The Daily Beast that Marciano was fired after launching a tirade against one of them GMA producers.

The outburst was reportedly overheard by the network’s chief meteorologist, Ginger Zee, who reported the incident to his superiors and noted that it was not the first time Marciano had overstepped the mark on set.

Before joining ABC News, Marciano served as co-anchor at Entertainment tonight and meteorologist for CNN. He landed at ABC News in August 2014 and debuted on GMA on Saturday, September 6, 2014.

There were mixed reactions to Marciano’s dismissal from his former colleagues. Shweta Sharma, who previously worked in the same company as Marciano, shared People“He was nice, but he wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea.”

She added: “There were always stories about him and his temper. No one who has worked with him or observed his behavior is surprised by this.”

However, another source told the outlet that the claims about his temperament were inaccurate due to the Marciano she knew.

“Rob is always positive, practical and never anything other than professional. “People like working with him and he’s not difficult to work with,” the source claimed, adding that the reports were “vicious” and that “the Rob Marciano portrayed is not the Rob Marciano we know.”

It is not yet clear when Marciano will make his CBS News debut.
