Shots were fired at Rockwall County officers during the high-speed chase

CADDO MILLS, Texas – Two people are in custody after a high-speed chase ended in a crash in Rockwall County.

The chase began late Monday night about 30 miles northeast of Dallas in Royse City, where suspects in a white SUV shot at a police officer on FM 548.

The pursuit continued until authorities said one of the suspects jumped out of a car. The other continued driving until the car crashed near Interstate 30 about 5 miles away.

The impact of the car caused some post damage.

Both suspects were taken to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown.

No deputies were injured.

Investigators are still trying to determine whether other suspects were involved.

Multiple charges are expected to be filed against the two suspects in custody.
