There’s an unwritten rule at this year’s Halloween Horror Nights that has left Universal guests baffled

Fans of all things spooky will be thrilled to learn that Halloween Horror Nights 33 is finally happening at Universal Orlando, although there’s one unwritten rule about the event that might shock you.

The Florida resort’s annual spookfest is proving popular with fans around the world, with Universal hosting a whopping 48 dates this time around.

Horror Nights 2024 features ten new houses based on iconic films such as: Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, A Quiet Place, Insidious: The Further and Universal Monsters: Eternal Bloodlines.

Lora Sauls, Associate Director of Creative Development and Show Direction for Art and Design, Entertainment at Universal Orlando Resort, spoke to press ahead of Halloween Horrors Night 33, including LADbible, and said, “We have 48 select nights for Halloween Horrors this year Night we can take part in.” your screams and fears.

“This year we celebrate our 33rd anniversary and during those years Universal Orlando’s creative group has created over 200 haunted houses. This year we’re adding ten terrifying haunted houses to this collection. These ten are from amazing horror film franchises.”

I had the opportunity to witness the spooky event when it opened in Orlando and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

The production value put into the haunted houses cannot be underestimated, even if some of the experiences don’t live up to the horror hype.

The Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire The house was definitely the most impressive, but I walked away more impressed by the spectacle than afraid.

On the other hand, that is Insidious The house was truly frightening and the guests were terrified as they turned every corner.

The horror film has an age rating of 15 in the UK, so you’d think there would be some sort of age limit for Halloween Horror Nights, right?

However, that’s not the case, with Universal instead pointing out that the attraction may be “too intense for young children.”

The resort recommends that children under 13 should not attend, although this is not an actual rule – it is really up to the parent/guardian to make their own decision.

To be honest, I was shocked at the non-existent rule considering how scary parts of the event are.

When I toured the park on opening night, I regularly saw small children participating in the spookfest.

In addition to the haunted houses, Universal has created five frightening scare zones spread throughout the park.

You might think you’re safe away from the houses, but the fear zones cause quite a bit of terror on the way between experiences.

Universal casts actors for roles in the scare zones and houses, a process that is carefully planned.

Speaking to LADbible shortly before the opening of Halloween Horror Nights 33 last Friday, Sauls said: “We cast our scare actors, as we call them, in April, and the casting process continues until after the event opens.”

“I think our fans absolutely love it [the houses and scare zones] and they laugh after the horror.
