Farmington man charged with sexual assault of a child

FARMINGTON (WGME) – A Farmington man is accused of sexually abusing a child under the age of 12 for years.

According to the Sun Journal, 71-year-old David Lakin was arrested Friday and charged with gross sexual assault and unlawful sexual contact.

Lakin is accused of assaulting a child between August 2016 and December 2021.

According to an affidavit, Lakin denies any wrongdoing.

He is being held at the Franklin County Detention Center.

If convicted on both counts, Lakin faces up to 40 years in prison and a $70,000 fine.
