Lynchburg police confirm a man was killed in a shooting

ABC13 is on the scene of a large police presence in Lynchburg. Police confirm a man has died after a shooting.

As of 2:32 a.m. Tuesday, our team can see evidence markers on the ground and crime scene tape on Water Gate Drive.

According to police, they were called to the 100 block of Water Gate Drive at 12:37 a.m. Tuesday.

When they arrived at the scene, they found an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police said they tried to save him, but the victim died at the scene.

The victim was identified as 36-year-old Anthony Dwight Davis.

LPD is now investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

We spoke with the Lynchburg Police Department and said this all originally came in as a shots fired call.
