Driver collides with speeding car as Las Vegas police attempt to stop

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Police say a driver collided with a speeding car in Las Vegas Monday evening as officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

The crash happened at Sahara Avenue and Rancho Drive just before 9 p.m., Las Vegas Metropolitan Police said.

According to LVMPD, the car overturned as it made a sharp turn onto Interstate 15.

The driver was taken into custody. There was no word on whether the person suffered significant injuries.

LVMPD initially said the car was believed to be stolen before issuing a correction later Monday.

Eastbound Sahara Avenue will be closed in Rancho in front of Palace Station while police investigate and clear the scene.

This is the second collision reported at this intersection on Monday. A pedestrian was taken to hospital earlier that afternoon with life-threatening injuries.
