The film, which will soon make its digital debut, has grossed around Rs 455 crore worldwide, making it the third highest-grossing film in Tamil Nadu.

Directed by Venkat Prabhu, ‘The GOAT’ has grossed a total of Rs 220 crore at the Kollywood box office and has become a major blockbuster in the state. The film slightly shyed away from surpassing Ponniyin Selvan’s record numbers – 1 (Rs 222 crore gross) and ranked third among the highest-grossing films in Tamil Nadu.

Even though the film received mixed word of mouth, the action film created havoc at the box office thanks to Thalapathy Vijay’s superstar status.

The GOAT fails to attract audiences in Kerala & APTS; Drives well in the northern belt

While the film performed exceptionally well in its state, it received a weak response in the Kerala and APTS territories. The film failed to collect even a respectable amount in these belts and ended up being a disaster.

The action film was also released in the northern belt under the title ‘Thalapathy is the GOAT’ where it did good business with no publicity or pre-release buzz. Although the film failed to top Leo’s Hindi collection of a lifetime, it did well at the box office.

The film is expected to gross around Rs 80 crore outside Tamil Nadu, taking the all-India gross to an estimated Rs 300 crore by the end of its theatrical release.

Note that both Leo and Thalapathy is the GOAT (Hindi titles) were released in Hindi only on non-national and single screens due to their 4-week digital deal.

“The Greatest Of All Time” or “The GOAT” tells the story of a young agent and spy, MS Gandhi, who lives in Delhi with his wife and son. The man, disguised as a regular government employee, accidentally takes his family on vacation to Thailand.

But a treacherous plan by an enemy puts his life to the test and leads to several changes in his life. The rest of the film focuses on how Gandhi must once again face his past, but this time his blood turns against him.
