Meet Ravi Ahuja, the new President and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment

Tony Vinciquerra, chairman and CEO of Sony Pictures Entertainment, will step down from his position early next year. He will be succeeded by Ravi Ahuja, the company’s current president and chief operating officer.

Ahuja, also chairman of Global Television Studios, will take the helm of the company as president and CEO effective Jan. 2, 2025, a statement said. The 53-year-old will report to Kenichiro Yoshida, Chairman and CEO of Sony Group Corporation, and to Sony Group Corporation President, COO and CFO Hiroki Totoki.

In the meantime, Vinciquerra will continue to serve in an advisory role for the company as non-executive chairman until the end of December 2025.

Who is Ravi Ahuja?

Currently, Ahuja is Chairman of Global Television Studios and President and Chief Operating Officer of Sony Pictures Entertainment.

He leads the company’s production operations, including US and international productions, as well as operations in India, among others. Along with Vinciquerra, Ahuja was tasked with managing day-to-day operations.

Ahuja joined Sony Pictures Entertainment in March 2021. As Chairman of Global Television Studios, he previously headed Sony Pictures Television’s production operations as well as the studio’s India business.

Since joining the company, he has led several mergers and acquisitions for the company. These include the acquisitions of the non-fiction entertainment company Industrial Media, the British production company Bad Wolf and the VFX company Pixomondo.

Previously, Ahuja was President of Business Operations and CFO of Walt Disney Television. During his time, he played a crucial role in the merger of Disney/ABC Television and Fox Networks after Disney acquired Fox in early 2019.

He served as CFO of Fox Networks Group, overseeing finance, strategy and business development across all divisions, including Twentieth Century Fox Television, Fox Cable Networks, Fox Sports, Fox Broadcasting, National Geographic and others.

While Ahuja was part of the company for about 12 years, it implemented its growth initiatives, including in the areas of streaming and new technologies. He even helped with the Hulu joint venture for more than a decade and also led investments in Roku, DraftKings and others. He joined Fox in 2007.

He was also CFO of Virgin Entertainment Group and worked at McKinsey & Company and in investment banking. Ahuja holds a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
