A woman injured in a shooting early Saturday morning in Marietta has been released from the hospital as Marietta police continue to investigate the incident.

The woman, whose name was not released, was shot in the face in an incident that occurred just before 1 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Advance Auto Parts, 220 Greene St.

“She wasn’t armed or anything.” said Marietta Police Capt. Aaron Nedeff. “As far as we know, she’s a bystander.”

Police said on Saturday that at least four people shot at each other in the parking lot and those involved fled the scene. It was not believed to be a random incident and police said there was no general danger to the public.

At least 30 shell casings were recovered from the scene, Nedeff said, and the incident remains under investigation. A possible motive has been determined, but it is too early to release details, he said.

“We do have a lot of information… but we get tips, we still get told things and we’re trying to put it all together.”

Police are appealing for additional information about the incident, including from anyone who may have had surveillance cameras in the area or whose property was damaged by the shooting. Police can be reached by phone at 740-376-2007 or online through Police “Give us a hint” Feature on the City of Marietta website. Tips can be left anonymously.
