Man was shot while trying to break into a house

JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Police arrested a 19-year-old Jonesboro man after they say he was shot while trying to break into a home.

On Monday, September 30, Craighead County District Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause to charge Motrayvise Finley with aggravated residential burglary, a Class Y felony.

According to the affidavit, Jonesboro police officers were dispatched to the area of Walker Place on Saturday, Sept. 28, for a disturbance.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a victim who said her ex-boyfriend, later identified as Finley, attempted to break in through her bedroom window without her permission.

“While Finley attempted to enter the residence, a male victim inside the residence fired a single shot and Finley was struck,” the affidavit states.

Police said Finley then fled the scene in his vehicle.

When investigators arrived at the scene, they reported that the crime scene was consistent with the victim’s statements.

Finley was later found with a gunshot wound at a home on Beacon Street.

According to the affidavit, Finley admitted to investigators that he had the window open and his body partially inside when he was shot.

He was taken to a local hospital for his injuries and then taken into custody.

Finley is being held at the Craighead County Detention Center awaiting his Oct. 28 court date.

Judge Fowler set his bond at $150,000 cash, with an order not to contact the victim.
