The outgoing CEO of Sony Pictures predicts “chaos” in the TV industry over the next two years

Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Tony Vinciquerra announced Monday that he will step down from his position to make way for Ravi Ahuja to succeed him as president and CEO. Under his leadership, Sony effectively turned the studio’s fortunes around by escaping the rush to streaming, doubling the number of theatrical releases and focusing on producing content that other companies could buy and distribute.

He spoke to WaxWord on Monday about the tumultuous changes in the entertainment industry and his tenure as head of Sony.

“The next 18 to 24 months will be – chaos is a word you can use,” he said. “There will be consolidations, purchases, sales and possibly bankruptcies.
