Tragic suicide of a man from Asur tribe due to financial stress | Ranchi News

Gumla: A 53-year-old man who belongs to the Asur tribe of the particularly vulnerable tribal group (PVTG) died suicide in Kujampat Asur settlement in Gurdari Police Station area in Gumla District.
The deceased’s younger brother, Birsu Asur, said: “Barta Asur, who worked in a bauxite mine in Kujampat, had left the house at 6am on Saturday. His body was found hanging from a tree near his house in the afternoon.”
Barta had borrowed Rs 1.3 lakh from other tribal members, claiming he needed the money to treat his sick child. However, Barta’s wife allegedly gave it to another man. The financial stress This is believed to have led to his suicide, Birsu said.
Officer-in-charge of Gurdari police station Dhiraj Kumar Singh said, “The villagers told us about the financial problems of the deceased. Barta had stopped communicating with other villagers.”
