Not guilty plea in fatal shooting in Stanley

STANLEY, N.D. (KMOT) – A man charged with murder in a fatal shooting in Stanley in May has pleaded not guilty.

Malcolm Mayors waived his right to a preliminary hearing and pleaded not guilty earlier this month, according to court records.

Investigators said the 33-year-old mayor went to the Mountrail County Correctional Center and told authorities he had used drugs and fatally shot his friend.

Police determined the victim was dead and had two gunshot wounds.

The mayor remains jailed on $1 million bail.

He will be back in court for a preliminary hearing in March.
