Tragic school bus accident claims life of five-year-old in Sircilla | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Even as the death toll among school children continues to rise, there seems to be no decline in school bus and van accidents across the state.
In the latest school bus incident, a five-year-old kindergarten student died after falling under the wheels of a private school bus in Mandal capital Mustabad of Rajanna Sircilla district on Monday.
Salkam Manogna of Namapur village got off the bus and was walking towards her classroom when the driver reversed without noticing her. She fell under the wheels and died on the spot with severe head injuries. A case was filed against the driver, Jangam Gurumurthy, following a complaint from the girl’s mother, Venkatalaxmi. The vehicle has been seized, said Chindam Ganesh, SHO, Mustabad. Venkatalaxmi is a beedi worker and her husband Raju is a daily wage labourer.
Several cases have been reported across the state in the last year, with at least eight such incidents reported in and around Hyderabad alone.
