Serious injuries were reported in a crash on Highway 501 in the Carolina Forest area

HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) – A two-car accident in Carolina Forest has left lanes blocked and serious injuries reported.

According to Horry County Fire Rescue, the accident occurred Monday around 4:22 p.m. on Highway 501 near West Perry Road. Due to the entrapments in the crash, crews had to undertake rescue measures.

Officials said serious injuries were being reported.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area to avoid further delays and to ensure the safety of emergency responders on scene.

Horry County Police and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating.
