“Continued delays” to rail services to and from Heuston station following “tragic incident”

Laois commuters face delays: Irish Rail has warned there will be “continued disruption” for commuters traveling to and from Hueston station after train services were temporarily suspended City of Newbridge and Kildare.

A social media update from Irish Rail’s official account said that “significant disruption to travel from Heuston is expected” this Monday evening, September 30. after an incident on the route.

Rail lines between Kildare and Newbridge were closed from half past three today after “significant disruption on all Heuston Commuter and Heuston Intercity routes”. However, they reopened this evening at 5:30 p.m.

Delays of up to two hours are expected on Irish Rail’s intercity and south west services.

The 4.25pm ​​train from Cork City to Heuston has been canceled and all trains from Heuston have been held at the station, the national rail provider said in an earlier update.

It is understood Irish Rail staff will try to organize bus transfers where possible.

The delays are due to “a tragic incident” in Newbridge early on Monday afternoon.

Rescue workers are on site, said Irish Rail.
