Tragic night: 5 fatalities in road accidents in Bapatla and Krishna |

Vijayawada: Five people were killed and seven injured in two road accidents in Krishna and Bapatla districts on Sunday night. The first incident involved a collision between one RTC bus and a truck further Penumudi Bridge near Repalle in Bapatla district in which three people died and six were injured. The second accident occurred near Challapalli where a truck carrying iron rods hit a pedestrian and overturned, killing the pedestrian and truck driver and injuring the cleaner.
The RTC bus coming from Repalle to Machilipatnam crashed into the truck coming from Avanigadda. The deceased have been identified as Mathangi Gangadhar (30) of Aravapalli village and Chiruguri Syam Sundar (19) of Pedana in Krishna districtand Bachalakura Sowjanya from Tenali. According to the police, rash driving by the bus driver was the cause of the accident.
In the second incident on NH-216 near Nookalavaripalem village in Challapalli mandal, a truck carrying iron rods from Odisha to Chennai collided with a pedestrian, causing the vehicle to swerve and overturn. Both the pedestrian and the truck driver, Sheikh Khader Basha of Kandukur in Prakasam district, died on the spot. Cleaner Sheik Babu (40) sustained serious leg injuries and was admitted to Machilipatnam Government Hospital. The pedestrian has not yet been identified.
